When The Yorktowne Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton was built in 1925, the hotel joined a wide array of local architectural styles that reflected York, Pennsylvania’s long role in the history of the growing country. Amid the quaint colonial-era barns and brick Victorian houses, the Renaissance Revival-style building stood out at 14 stories tall. With its central location on Market Street, the new hotel quickly became celebrated as the “Cornerstone of York,” hosting countless luminaries like Hank Aaron, Marian Anderson, Ray Charles, Joe DiMaggio, and Ella Fitzgerald. Brilliantly restored, The Yorktowne Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton remains a landmark gathering space in York with its grand ballroom, stunning rooftop bar, and modern guestrooms and suites.
